Who are we? What is our story?

We are a nomadic couple from France (the Mr.) and the US (the Mrs.). In 2018, we sold most of our possessions, moved out of San Francisco and quit our jobs to slow travel the world… indefinitely. We’ve learned a lot about what it takes to design a life that was true to ourselves.
Since then, we’ve been on a mission to inspire others to do the same and achieve their ideal lifestyle. You can learn more about who we are from our About Us page.

Please also read about our origin story about how we decided to become full-time nomads, aspiring minimalists, and slow travelers.

What is our mission?

We are world travelers who believe that life should be lived to its fullest potential. We started this blog to share our nomadic journey of slow travel and show that the cost of traveling the world can be much cheaper than staying at home. We hope that our adventure will go beyond inspiring people to slow travel but also to inspire people to think differently about the life they can design for themselves.

How did we structure our blog’s content?

Our content is divided between 3 main sections that describe what are we doing (our what), how we are doing (our how) and why we are doing what we are doing (our why) which are the following:

(Note: you can find these sections in the category section that is at the bottom of each page of our blog)

[WHAT] Experiences and Recommendations:
In this section, we enthusiastically share our slow travel lifestyle by showcasing the experiences we’ve had, detailing our expenditures, and offering recommendations. We aim to provide a glimpse into our journey and inspire others to embrace a similar approach.

[HOW] How To Guides & Behind the Scenes:
In the section, we unveil the inner workings of our travel lifestyle, divulging all the steps we have taken to make it a reality. From sharing our money-saving techniques to streamlining our lives, we provide an in-depth look at the strategies and methods we employ. Additionally, we offer insights into how we meticulously track our spending, ensuring transparency in our financial management.

[WHY] Lifestyle & Reflections:
Within the Lifestyle section, we delve into the motivations behind our chosen path and shed light on the lifestyle we have consciously crafted. We engage in discussions about the reasons driving our decisions and delve into the philosophy that underpins our unique way of living. By exploring the “why” behind our choices, we hope to inspire others to reflect on their own aspirations and design a lifestyle that aligns with their values and goals.

We also have the following sections on our blog:

  • Interviews – Rather than only sharing our experience, this is where we interview other long-term travelers and share their unique story because there is more than one way to approach nomadic travel
  • Recommendations – This is a collection of resources that affected our lives that everyone should be aware of.
  • About Us – This is a collection of pages to know more about who we are, where we are and how to connect with us

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Isn’t travel expensive?

A: Not necessarily! During our first year of nomadic travel, we spent $28,628 which is an average of $38/day/person. In comparison, when we lived in San Francisco we spent more than twice that amount. We realized we could “Travel the world for less than the cost of staying home!“ and we’ve shared many detailed cost of living reports.

Q: You must be depriving yourself, right?

A: Actually, we live an even higher quality of life! For this budget, we’ve been using Airbnb to stay in comfortable apartments with some of the best views we could have imagined. By choosing where we want to live, (aka. geo-arbitrage) we have greater control over our expenses. Living outside of the US helps us significantly reduce our health care costs while keeping the same quality of care. We also embrace minimalism & slow living which helps us focus on what matters to us. We are really happy and grateful for the life we’ve been able to design for ourselves!

Q: Are a lot of people doing this?

A: We are not the only ones that have designed a nomadic lifestyle. We have also been inspired by the following people:

Since all of these people have blogs and you might think their blog is funding their lifestyle (which isn’t true). So to diversify this list, check out our interview series where we talked to folks that don’t have a strong social presence but still have an incredible story and journey worth sharing.
